let the total age of 8 members 3 years ago be x.

Total age of 8 members at present = a+3+b+3+c+3+d+3+e+3+f+3+g+3+h+3 = a+b+c+d+e+f+g+h + 24

Total age of 8 members at present = x+ 24

Let y be the difference in the ages of  incoming younger member and outgoing member

So, new total = x+ 24 - y

Now we are given that average of ages of 89 members after substitution is same as average it was a 3 years ago.

So, \frac{x}{8}=\frac{x+24-y}{8}

x=x+24-y

24=y

Hence The incoming member is younger to the outgoing member by 24 years
