Let the number be x.

ATQ,
x + x*80/100 = 900
x + 80x / 100 = 900
(100x + 80x) / 100 = 900
180x = 90000
x = 500

Thus, 500 increased by 80% becomes 900 :)

Answer:

let the unknown number be. X

x +  \frac{80}{100}  = 900

 = x = 900 -  \frac{80}{100}

   = \frac{90000}{100}  -  \frac{80}{100}  =  \frac{89,920}{100}

X=899.2

899.3 will be increased by 80% to become 900
