Democracy is not a static end, it is a continuous process whereby people exercise their constitutional rights to elect their representatives.Nor is it limited to only the process of elections.Its foundations need to be continuously replenished.However,the democratic process in India can be termed as fairly successful due to certain factors.It has provided political rights to classes and groups of people that had previously not say in the way that were governed.It has succeeded in empowering the depressed and exploited groups to a large extent.It has created awareness among people about their rights.It has forested a healthy culture of public debate aided by a vibrant media.
