Ferromagnetism is observed in transition metals and some of their compounds. In antiferromagnetism, the magnetic moments point in the opposite direction. Due to this, the magnetic susceptibility of a substance decreases to some extent. Antiferromagnetism is observed in the salts of ions like Mn+2, Fe+3 and Gd+3.
