Isaac Newton was once often so deeply involved in difficult problems that he grew to be quite absent-minded.

One day a gentleman got here to see him, however he was once informed that Sir Isaac Newton used to be busy in his find out about and that no one used to be allowed to disturb him.

As it used to be dinner-time, the traveller sat down in the dining-room to wait for the scientist.

The servant got here in and positioned on the table a boiled poultry under a cover.

An hour passed, however Newton did now not appear.

The gentleman, feeling hungry, ate the chicken, and overlaying up the skeleton, asked the servant to put together every other one for his master.

Before the second poultry was once ready, however, the scientist entered the room, apologizing for his delay.

Then he added: ""As I feel rather tired and hungry, I hope you will excuse me a little longer, while I take my dinner, and then I will be at your service.""

With these words he lifted the cover, and except emotion turned spherical to the gentleman and said: ""See what a unusual set we scientists are! I quite forgot that I had dined already.""

At this second the servant introduced in the other chicken.

The visitor explained how things stood.

After a hearty laugh, the hungry scientist sat down to dine.
