Lead nitrate is the white crystalline salt. When it is heated it makes a crackling noise and produce 2 gases NO2NO3.The color of NO2gas is reddish brown. And the precipitate is lead oxide which is yellow in color.

Pb(NO3)2→PbO+NO2+NO3
