When light enters from one medium to another, the quantity which remains constant is frequency.

  • When a light ray travels from one medium to another, its direction changes at the interface due to change in velocity and it seems to bend at the interface.
  • To compensate change in velocity , wavelength also changes but the frequency remains constant.
  • The velocity can either increase or decrease depending on the optical density of the media.
