When looking outdoors through a glass window at night, why do we sometimes see a double image of ourselves?

Double panes. You get a reflection from both the inner and outer pane. Since they are slightly different distances from you, the angle is also slightly different and you see two different reflections

This is because the window has two parallel sheets of glass, not just one, Each such a sheet of glass is a partial mirror. They are separated by 1–2 cm, and that gives the tiny displacement on the mirror images from both sheets if you are not looking perfectly straight (direction perpendicular to the glass plane). It’s called a parallax.
