When n butane is monochlorinated w chlorobutane is major product because the above reaction occurs by carbocation method.In this method Stability of carbocation varies as in the order 3>2>1.

After monochlorination the cation is

hence Attack occurs on 2 structure so 2 chlorobutane is major product.
