Whenever metals like potassium are burnt in chlorine then the fumes produced can be hazardous to the eyes and can cause severe eye irritation or can have harmful effects. Thus, such kind of experiment should be carried out in closed container or fume cupboard which doesn't not let the fumes get mixed with the air.
