Hey there!

Quick Lime is also known as Calcium Oxide i.e CaO.

When Quick lime is added to water then the reaction would be:

CaO (s) + H₂O → Ca(OH)₂ + Heat

By this reaction we come to know that when quick lime is added to water, it reacts strongly with water to produce slaked lime or calcium hydroxide and high amount of heat is also liberated.

So, it is a combination reaction and heat is liberated so it is exothermic reaction. That's why it is used in preparation of bleaching power i.e Calcium oxychloride or CaOCl₂.

Hope It Helps You!
