when should we use the formula:
V=IR
P=I²R

hey look,

these formulas are one and the same.

they are used to calculate different values in the current section of physics.

when you are given current ( I) or potential difference ( V),

and are asked to find the respective I or V,

and are given the power as p

use these formulas to first find the resistance, and then substitute the values for the given qn.
