There are in total two polar bodies produced in the case of humans.
When the primary oocyte divides unequally by the first meiotic division then, the secondary oocyte and the first polar body are produced.
Now the secondary oocyte gets arrested in the metaphase stage of meiosis II until the sperm fuses with the secondary oocyte during fertilization.
When the sperm fertilizes the secondary oocyte it now completes the second unequal meiotic division and forms a very small secondary polar body and the ovum.
Also in the case of humans and most vertebrates the polar body does not undergo meiosis II.
