Lets subtract 8,10,9 from their respective numbers.

512-8 = 504

430-10= 420

489-9 = 480

ATQ,

All the three groups each with 504, 420 and 480 are subdivided into smaller groups such that each group consists of equal number of people and no more people are left.

So we have to find the HCF of these numbers

2 | 504, 420, 480

2 | 252, 210, 240

3 | 84, 70, 80

84, 70 and 80 don't share a common factor.

Hence HCF = 2 × 2 × 3 = 12

Hope it helps!!!
