When the larger numbers of two number is divided by the smaller then the quotient and remainder are 2 and 9 respectively form a linear equations in two variables?

let larger number = x

let smaller number = y

Dividend = (Divisor × Quotient) + Remainder

in our case Dividend = larger number = x

                   Divisor = smaller number = y

                   Quotient = 2

                   Remainder = 9

substituting above value in formula

x = ( y × 2) + 9

⇒ x - 2y = 9 is required two variable equation.
