After chauri chaura incident non cooperation movement was ended by mahatma Gandhi himself. This incident took place in the Gorakhpur district of the Uttar pradesh on 5th February 1922, when a large number of protester, participating in this movement.
Mahatma Gandhi who was strictly against violence, halted the non cooperation movement on the national level as a direct result of this incident. Bhagat Singh protested at the taking back of the non cooperation movement.
