From the upper and lower parts of the body the deoxygenated blood flows through the superior and inferior vena cava respectively into the right atrium of the heart.

From the right atrium the deoxygenated blood goes into the right ventricle via the tricuspid valve.

From the right ventricle the pulmonary artery carries the deoxynated blood to the lungs.

Within the lungs the blood gets oxygenated and is brought back to the left atrium via pulmonary veins.

From the left atrium the oxygenated blood passes into the left ventricle through the bicuspid or mitral valve.

From the left ventricle the aorta arises which carries the oxygenated blood into systemic circulation.
