When uranium-235 atoms undergo fission to produce ba and kr and 3 neutrons atomic mass is conserved then why does energy get released?

Energy is released because if we add up the mass of uranium on one side and add up the mass of barium, krypton and 3neutrons on the other side, we'll see that the mass is not same. Some of the mass is destroyed , this destroyed mass is released as energy which is then used in nuclear power plants.
