GANGA ACTION PLAN (GAP) Phase-I was launched in 1985.
- It was then declared closed on 31st March 2000 due to the failure of the plan.
- Phase-II merged with NCRP and now covers 152 towns.
- A total of 215 schemes of pollution abatement were there.
- A million litres of sewage is targeted to be intercepted, diverted, and treated.
