One of the first to reach the Geographic North Pole (disputed): there were two primary claimants, Frederick Cook, and his two Inuit men, Aapilak and Ittukusuk, on April 21, 1908 and Robert Peary, Matthew Henson and four Inuit men: Ootah, Seegloo, Egingway, and Ooqueah on April 6, 1909.
