The Bastille Prison was stormed on 14th of July, 1789.
The Bastille was a prison-fortress used by the King of France. The main reason for this attack was that the common people wanted to reach out and take away the ammunition (weapons) that were believed to have been stored there. The commander of the prison was killed and seven prisoners were released. The Bastille represented the despotic power of the king and was the focus of much resentment. The prison was completely destroyed after this attack.

* Bastille prison was attacked on 14th July,1789.
* Bastille prison was attacked because,
* The king had said/commanded the troops to move into the Paris City.
* There was rumour spread that the king would order the troops to open fire upon the people.
* So the people gathered in the town hall and decided to form People's militia (people's army).
* While the national assembly was busy at versailles the rest seethed with turmoil.
* The severe winter led to a bad harvest and cause of this the price of bread rose and the bakers exploited this situation.
* At the same time king ordered his troop and the rumours spread off.
* So at this time some of the people marched towards the bastille.
* The commander of Bastille prison was killed as well the prisoners were released.
