In Assam, successful seismic survey was carried out in Naharkatia during 1937-39, triggering new enthusiasm in oil search and it became forerunner of discoveries in Assam basins and others also. The successful outcome of well NHK-1 in 1937 was vindication for geophysical method in oil exploration.
