The principle of Universal Adult Franchise was adopted as a part of the present Constitution of India in 1949.
It was implemented on 26th January, 1950. Elections in India are based on this very Universal Adult Franchise.
It ensures that every citizen of India has the right to vote, irrespective of caste, creed, religon, etc.
