Zamindari system was born during the British Period.

This system was first introduced in the year 1793 By Cornwallis and this was known as a Permanent settlement system. Zamindars where the ruling class in the Mughal Period, they owned many lands and collected tax from the peasants.  

Under the Zamindari system the tax collected by them was divided in 11 parts, one part was for the Zamindars and the other 10 parts were given to the East India Company.
