Question

When water freezes in lake it is said that that upper layer becomes ice but y is water in fridge becomes ice from lower layer.Why is it soo???

I think because of the container in which it's kept but in the lake water the base is a natural resource, soil ..so many of the organisms live there because of which the heat is provided.....m not sure though
