Let the volume of water required be x.

Given that water freezes its volume is increased by 4%.

x + (4/100) * x = 221

x + 0.04 * x = 221

x(1 + 0.04) = 221

1.04x = 221

x = 221/1.04

x = 212.5.

Therefore the volume of water is required 212.5cm^3.

Hope this helps!

...........

Let the volume of water required be p

..............

========. water freezes its volume is increased by 4%. =======

------. P+ (4/100) * p = 221

== P + 0.04 * p = 221

== P(1 + 0.04) = 221

== 1.04p = 221

== P = 221/1.04

== P = 212.5.

Therefore the volume of water is required 212.5cm^3.

P = 212.5cm^3.
