in case of cloth and water the adhesive forces between cloth and water are stronger than the cohesive forces. where as when wax is rubbed on it the cohesive forces in wax dominates the adhesive force thus making it water proof..

hope it helps☺

Hey mate..... here's your answer...

Rubbing wax on a dry cloth , the cloth is made water proof it is because wax is water resistant . The cohesive forces within the water drops are stronger than the adhesive forces between the drops of water and the wax.

Hope it helps
