CaO( quicklime) + co2 due to presence of water-caco3( limestone) is formed

When we add water to quicklime (calcium oxide), slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) is formed. Lot of energy is evolved in this reaction.
CaO + H2O --> Ca(OH)2
Reaction in which energy is liberated are called exothermic reaction.
From this we can conclude that reaction of quicklime with water is an exothermic reaction.
