when we breath out , why does the air passage not collapse....?

The trachea or the windpipe connects the pharynx and larynx to our lungs. This allows air to pass in and out of the lungs. As the trachea is made of cartilaginous rings which are of C shape, it prevents the air passage not to collapse when we breathe out air.
