Measures to be taken in chemical laboratory
Explanation:
- While handling acids, one should take great care because are corrosive in nature and can cause severe damage to our skins and body parts. Acids can cause irritation and it is very harmful to human skins. That is why it is handled with good care in chemical laboratories.
- A concentration acid can be dilute properly by the addition of acid into water slowly. Because acids have strong affinity for water so, dissolution of an acid in water is highly exothermic process which means while mixing acids and water a large amount of heat is produced. Therefore, acid is always diluted by addition of acid to water slowly and with constant stirring.
- If we accidentally spill acid on our skin following measures is be taken-
Rinse the spilled area with cold water immediately. Rinsing within 1
minute can prevent from severe burns.
Help the injured person in removing chemical substance.
After the flush, take out the clothing and any jewellers that might
have chemical on them.
Wash the area till the burning sensation goes away.
