When we put burning candle near the mouth of test tube consisting of sulfuric acid &

pieces of magnesium metal, why does it explode?​

The explosion is due to the burning of HYDROGEN gas due to the candle.

- The reaction of sulphuric acid and Magnesium metal is as follows:

Mg + H2SO4 → MgSO4 + H2

- Hydrogen gas is evolved from the test tube in this reaction.

- When we bring the candle near the mouth of the test tube, this hydrogen gas burns explosively in the presence of air with a pop sound.
