- The reaction of sulphuric acid and Magnesium metal is as follows:
Mg + H2SO4 → MgSO4 + H2
- Hydrogen gas is evolved from the test tube in this reaction.
- When we bring the candle near the mouth of the test tube, this hydrogen gas burns explosively in the presence of air with a pop sound.
