When we return to the start point after travelling again ?what's the displacement and why it's zero

Displacement is the length of the shortest path between the initial and final positions of a body. When a body moves from its initial point and comes back to its initial point, the displacement would be 0 since there is no shortest distance as the body stopped right where it started.
