We sit at a camp fire,objects beyond the fireseen swaying because we know that if there is differences between air in density mainly due to heat then it is known as Refraction . So due to this differences makes density change from one moment to another..

1)It is the similar effect as of mirages
2)The flames are in motion.The light rays from flame will incident on the nearest objects and undergo multiple refractions.
3)As the rays from the flame are unequal the objects beyond the fire are seen swaying
