when we study then air passes out from our right nostril and when we do some other work air passes out from our left nostril how is it possible? Why the air doesn't pass out from both the nostrils?

Our nose has erectile tissues .
during breathing these tissues expand in one nostril and contract in the other. thus air has a open passage through one nostril and are prevented through another to some extent.
this changes every 2.5 hours or so . this is called nasal cycle.
