In a plant cell, the cell wall which is made up of cellulose is dead but the plasma membrane and the protoplasm of the cell made up of protein and lipids are always living and keep performing the vital life activities like all other living cells. The other reason which can be given is that if the plant cells were not living they would have never divided and would have never resulted in growth and plant reproduction which are the characteristic features of each living cell or organism. Hence it can be concluded that plant cells are living. However few cells like Sclerenchyma,cork , etc. are the non-living cells found in plants which mainly provide protection from various hazardous agents and also provide supp
