when wood is burnt the mass of the ash formed isnfar smaller than the mass of the wood .Does it mean the law of conservation of mass is not obeyed?explain

When we burn a log of wood, the wood have some mass as we know conversion of mass says mass remains conserved not be created nor destroyed, it may change to another form. So mass change in form of heat and ash like photon.
