Explanation:

Work is said to be done only when the applied force causes a change in the position of  the object in the direction of the applied force. For example, when we push a table and it  moves in the direction of applied force, then work is done. On the other hand, if we push a  wall with the force we have and there is no change in its position then, no work is said to be  done.
