Given :- when (x³-2x²+px-q) is is divided by (x²-2x-3), The remainder is (x-6). Find the value of p and q ?

Answer :-

dividing by long division method we get,

x² - 2x - 3 ) x³- 2x²+ px - q (x

x³ - 2x² -3x

(px + 3x) - q

Remainder = (p + 3)x - q

given remainder = (x - 6)

so,

→ (p + 3)x - q = x - 6

comparing,

→ p + 3 = 1

→ p = 1 - 3 = (-2) (Ans.)

and,

→ q = 6 (Ans.)
