EXPLANATION:

The above lines narrator was Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s father. ‘Dr. Abdul Kalam’ was born in a Tamil family in the town of Rameswaram. His father was neither wealthy nor much educated but was generous and a kind human being. The priest in Rameswaram temple was a ‘close friend’ of his father.

Both used to discuss about spiritual things and Dr. Kalam used to listen to them and ask questions. Hence, on asking the importance of prayer, his father replied that with prayer, one can related to spirits and communicate with them. When we pray, one can transcend his body and become part of cosmos which has no discrimination of wealth, age, caste, etc.
