Actually welcome to the concept of the Chemical Organic Chemistry ..
Basically it's all about the reagents that we take on reaction with the given compound ....
On reaction with the H2/Ni .....it will under reduction reaction ...thus replacement of Cl with the Hydrogen ..also ...it reactswith the CARBONYL bond and we obtain a alcohol here .....!!
On reaction with a great dehydrating agent ...LiAlH4.....it will react at the double of C and O....making it and OH bond forming an Alcohol ......
Thus both of them are ALCOHOLS..

i thought it was B
okay fine ...in some cases ....H2/ Ni catalyst also reduce the C=O bond and Thus we get alcohol
so one element goes out as HCl and we get alcohol
