When you use the distance formula, does it matter what point you choose as (x1,y1) and what point you choose as (x2,y2)? Explain why or why not.

Answer:

No because taking anyone one of them as x1, y1 or x2, y2 will give the same answer but you should take the corresponding points

Suppose the Co-ordinate are (3,5) and (5,6).then you can take either (3,5)as x1, y1 and (5,6) as x2, y2 or

(3,5) as x2, y2 and (5,6) as x1, y1

The negative one will be converted by squaring

Answer:

no matter what point you choose as (x1,y1) and what point you choose as (x2,y2) because using distance formula the negative is converted while squaring (x2-x1)^2
