Hydrogen gas is released.

We can test hydrogen gas by bringing a burning splinter near it , it will burn with a pop sound.

Zinc reacts with dilute sulphuric acid to form zinc sulphate and hydrogen gas is evolved. This is a single displacement reaction of a non-metal by a metal.

Zn + H2SO4→ ZnSO4 + H2

Therefore, hydrogen gas is liberated during this reaction.
