Zinc metal : Zn

dilute strong acid .. let it be H2SO4

Zn + H2SO4 -------> ZnSO4 + H2

Evolved gas is hydrogen, we can confirm it by placing a burning matchstick at the opening of the funnel or tube... It will burn with a pop sound.

Answer:

Zn + HCl - ZnCl2 + H2

The gas evolved is hydrogen.

We can test hydrogen gas by bringing a burning candle near it, the gas burns with a pop sound.

This proves that the gas is hydrogen gas.
