Hello, here’s the answer

First of all, Chromosomes are not formed, they are inherited. After inheritance, They are formed during gametogenesis, which is the process of formation of gametes. After gametogenesis, they divide during the process of meiosis and hence increase their number.

Chromosomes are required for heredity and evolution as they contain DNA, which is responsible for the passing of traits and basic characters of a particular species from one generation to the other.
