Abstract

Drought-prone areas in Maharashtra have hardly benefited from government programmes, even those which have been specially designed for these areas-fisheries schemes have aided private fish traders rather than the poor, allocations for pasture development have been misspent, plantation schemes are unsuitable for poor soils and milk production has been sluggish in Ahmednagar.
