In the summer of 1886,Helen's parents took her to a famous eye doctor in Baltimore. She enjoyed every thing about the trip-the train, the new people and the change of routine."During the whole trip,"she writes, "I did not jave one fit of temper; there were so many things to keep my mind and fingers busy."
Dr: Chisholm was a very gentle person but he could be educated, and advised her father to consult Dr:Alexander Graham Bell. Immeadiately the family moved to Washington to meet Dr: Bell. Dr: Bell held Helen on his knees while she examined his watch, and he made it strike for her.He had never dreamt that meeting Dr.Beli would open the doors for her from darkness into light, from isolation to friendship, companionship, her knowledge, love.
