lipids and proteins constituting the cell membrane are synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum. SER (smooth endoplasmic reticulum helps in the manufacturing of lipids. RER (rough endoplasmic reticulum) has particles attached to its surface, called ribosoes. these ribosomes are the site for protein synthesis.
