A strong magnetic strip is attached along the refrigerator body’s door frame. This is covered by a gasket which can be seen along the frame. This magnetic strip, attracts the door which is made of metal, when it comes close to the door frame and pulls it shut. The magnetic attraction holds the door in place and prevents it from opening, unless pulled open with sufficient force.

The gaskets (on the refrigerator body as well as the door), keeps the door and the body of the refrigerator flush against each other, preventing the cold within, from escaping outside.
