Answer:

(i) Nodes of Ranvier:

  • Ranvier nodes are microscopic gaps in myelinated axons. Their role is to accelerate the propagation of potential for action along the axon through salutatory conduction.
  • The Ranvier Nodes are the gaps between the Schwann cells myelin insulation that isolates the axons of neurons.

(ii) Ciliated epithelium:

  • “Ciliated epithelium” is a thin, hair-like tissue on it called cilias. It is present in respiratory tract and in women's fallopian tubes.

(iii) Smooth muscles:

  • Smooth muscle typically forms blood vessel supporting tissue and “hollow internal organs” such as the intestine, stomach, and bladder.

(iv) Fluid connective tissue:

  • Blood and lymph are connective tissues that are liquid. In a “liquid extracellular matrix”, cells circulate.
  • The blood-circulating parts are all obtained from hematopoietic stem cells in the ‘bone marrow’.
