Waterlogging is a process of saturation of soil with the water content.

The soil is regarded as waterlogged while it is closely saturated with water more time such that the air phase of waterlogging is limited and the anaerobic conditions prevail.

During the severe cases of the prolonged waterlogging, the anaerobiosis happens.
